Untitled

This untitled drawing from 1995 shows the consistency of the visual motifs in his work, such as the aeroplane flying over a brightly coloured, meticulously drawn building – perhaps a stadium. This might be a reference to the iconic fly-past of the jumbo jet over the Ellis Park stadium where the Springboks defeated the All Blacks to win their first rugby World Cup in 1995.

Forms of transport always fascinated Zungu, and the plane motif extends back to the 1960s, where it appears as a visual metaphor on many of his decorated envelopes.
