The Javett-UP, a Public Benefit Organisation was born from the vision of it's founding partners, the University of Pretoria, and the Javett Foundation, to create a home in South Africa for the art and cultural heritage of Africa. The have made significant investments to bring life to their vision for a thriving art center that noy only houses and enriches the work of great African artists but is also a center for interdisciplinary research and artistic education excellence.

 The Javett-UP has become a pre-eminent art institution in Gauteng, offering exciting, relevant, and engaging programmes throughout the year. We curate exhibitions that inspire, entertain, provoke, and question. We offer a sacred space where ideas are prized, creativity is celebrated, and where problems can be solved. For the curios, we offer provocation and edgier, for the broken-hearted, we give solace; for the jaded, we give renewal. We want our art center to be a place where everyone feels at home. This a public space to engage with the art and cultural heritage of Africa while being deeply embedded in an internationally ranked South African university.
