Yakhal’Inkomo exhibition has almost 40 selected books as part of the exhibition where visitors are encouraged to read in the space. The Javett Art Centre at the University of Pretoria is proud to have partnered with FCBC this year to allow for book reviews from this selection.
Part of this partnership involves inviting authors and having possible film screenings. Please join us on 2 July 2022 at 11:00 for a conversation with Dr Mongane Wally Serote who will be unpacking his two books which speak to the Yakhal’Inkomo Exhibition titled “No Baby Must Weep” and “Yakhal'Inkomo” at the Javett Art Centre at the University of Pretoria.
About Fat Cats
The Fat Cat Book Club (FCBC) is a non-profit organisation based in Gauteng which hosts regular sessions with its members to discuss books, authors or upcoming political, social or economic themes. Unlike traditional book clubs which make it mandatory for each member to read the same book for discussions, the FCBC allows members to choose a book which they find interesting. On a weekly basis, one member reviews the book they have selected. FCBC also hosts contact sessions based on a selected theme where an author of the chosen book is invited to be part of the conversation and the members join in the discussion. Should another member take interest in the reviewed book they are encouraged to purchase the book themselves.
