Join us for a day of creativity and conversation at The Art of Storytelling event where we will bring together artistic expression and intellectual dialogue to explore the intersections of social and environmental history on Sunday 26 January 2025.
Zine-Making Workshop (11:00-13:00)
The event will kickstart with participants given tools to craft their own zines, engaging personal, political, and social issues that resonate in the current South African context.
Birdie in Conversation with Koketso Sechane (14:00-17:00)
In the afternoon, Dr. Tribute "Birdie" Mboweni, anthropologist and singer, will follow with a performance and storytelling session to share her research on the human footprint in environmentally protected areas, focusing on the Mapungubwe Cultural Landscape in post-apartheid South Africa. This segment is supported by the National Art Council.
Made possible by the Canada Fund for Local Initiative, The Art Storytelling event is an invitation to explore the power of storytelling in promoting reconciliation, raising awareness, and fostering meaningful conversation.
Don’t miss out! Let’s create, reflect and engage together!
