Planned activities for kids to enjoy

Day 1 Movie Magic & Self-Portrait Fun

Movie Magic & Self-Portrait Fun Kick off the week with a movie day! We’ll be watching a delightful film that takes us on a journey through our emotions. It’s a great way to help kids understand their feelings and learn about empathy. After the movie, the fun continues with a creative self-portrait painting session. Kids will express their inner selves on canvas, mixing imagination with self-awareness. This day is all about understanding emotions and connecting with one another through art!

Day 2 Indigenous Games Extravaganza

Indigenous Games Extravaganza Tuesday is all about fun and games—but with a twist! We’ll be playing indigenous games giving participants a chance to experience the joy and wisdom of these age-old activities. Not only will they learn the significance behind each game, but they’ll also engage in strategic thinking and teamwork. Plus, they’ll get creative by turning everyday household items into their own unique ‘artworks.’

Day 3 Clay Creations: Bringing Stories to Life

Clay Creations: Bringing Stories to Life Let’s get our hands dirty on Wednesday! The day starts with a captivating folktale, setting the stage for a hands-on clay modeling workshop. Inspired by Bonnie Ntshalintshali’s incredible works like Apocalypse and Elephant Embracing Stork, participants will create their own clay characters from the story, letting their imaginations run wild.

Day 4 Vibrant Patterns: Ndebele Art Adventure

Vibrant Patterns: Ndebele Art Adventure Thursday is all about colour and patterns! We’ll dive into the vibrant world of Ndebele art, drawing inspiration from the legendary Esther Mahlangu. Participants will learn about the history and techniques behind this iconic art form, and then create their own patterned masterpieces, just like the traditional Ndebele designs.

Day 5  Art Extravaganza & Showcase

Art Extravaganza & Showcase To wrap up the week, we’ll have a grand finale! Kids will get to choose their favourite art activities from the week—whether it’s painting, clay modelling, or creating new games—and work on their final pieces. In the afternoon, we’ll host an art showcase where the kids can display their creations to friends and family. It’s a day of celebration, creativity, and pride in all they’ve accomplished.
