Jaco Meyer Choir Performance on Kykafrikaans Poems

25 September 16:00 for 16:30

“You can hear with your eyes, but you can’t look with your ears”, wrote conceptual and language artist, Willem Boshoff, in his seminal volume of concrete poetry titled Kykafrikaans (1980). New Music composer Jaco Meyer has created many works in response to particular conceptual artworks by Boshoff. Join us at 16h00 on 25 September, when a chamber choir and ensemble performs Meyer’s latest musical response to quintessential Boshoff, this time engaging with elements of sound and speech in selected visual poems from the Kykafrikaans series. These are currently on display as large silkscreens (Sanlam Collection, 2002) at the Javett-UP.
