Javett-UP is excited to invite your bundle/s of joy, aged 10-16 years, to our 5-day holiday art programme from the 27th to the 31st of March 2023. During this programme we will be unpacking two projects, the first is an exhibition of Selected Works From The Bongi Dhlomo Collection (BDC) which features famous artworks from South African artists working during the 1960s to 1990s. The other is titled Plant Laboratory (Interactive research process) which explores the idea of an edible indigenous plant garden.
Holiday Art Programme Day 1
09:00 – 14:00 (break 11:00 includes a light lunch)
We will begin our programme with the exhibition Selected Works From The Bongi Dhlomo Collection where participants will have a chance to enjoy an interactive tour facilitated by Puleng Plessie which is integrated with the CAPS Curriculum. A curriculum treasure hunt follows this.
Holiday Art Programme Day 2
09:00 – 14:00 (break 11:00 includes a light lunch)
Participants are encouraged to select an artwork which allows them to draw personal narratives and re-interpretations. This session will include a drawing workshop.
Holiday Art Programme Day 3

Following the previous day, participants will create an A3 final painting of their artwork. This workshop will include painting techniques, the colour wheel and representations. We will end the day with reflections and presentations from participants.
Holiday Art Programme Day 4

Participants will start a new session of the Javett-UP program titled Plant Laboratory. We will begin the session with a tour and explore South African indigenous plants through storytelling. participants will be encouraged to further explore this topic through their own reimagined stories of an indigenous garden. Participants will paint their disposable pot plants which include their stories in preparation for the planning workshop the next day

Participants will be planting edible indigenous plants and have a presentation about their story and plant.
